First developed as part of The Bivouac at Druid’s Temple in the Yorkshire Dales, these cabins formed the heart of a luxury glamping holiday destination, blending rustic materials with intelligent design.
Sam co-founded The Bivouac and partnered with roundwood timber framing expert Rudi Meseg to design and build these innovative structures.
Crafted with over 80% local timber, insulated with sheep’s wool, and heated by wood-burning stoves, the cabins achieve thermal efficiency more than seven times that of standard new-build homes. Water comes from a nearby spring and waste is filtered through a gravity-fed natural reed bed system.
Built with minimal environmental impact and maximum guest appeal, the project was at the forefront of the UK’s emerging glamping movement. These properties were an important and separate component of The Bivouac and won many awards for innovative and sustainable design.
