Sam was engaged to assess the feasibility of launching a new home maintenance venture for local owner-occupiers, especially elderly and vulnerable residents.
NSH aimed to offer a trustworthy alternative to private contractors, recognising a gap in the market for high-quality service delivery.
Sam developed a detailed business plan covering market research, service formulation, pricing, operating models, financial projections, and integration with NSH’s existing systems.
The project explored fixed-fee subscription models; these are popular for their predictability but challenging due to regulatory oversight by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).
To address these challenges, Sam modelled different legal structures to manage risk and regulatory compliance, including potential joint ventures and partnerships.
The work provided NSH with a robust, risk-sensitive plan, and the organisation then appointed a dedicated member of staff to progress the venture.
